Sleep inertia can last for seconds, minutes or hours after waking,â lead researcher Stuart McFarlane said, via the Daily Mail. âResearch suggests that âdifficulty in waking upâ is a common experience. Itâs one that many of us share.âResearchers feel boppier, upbeat music can also benefit the brain moving forward in the morning.If youâre suffering from sleep inertia, it not only affects your mental skills but the early stages have also been equated to being as disoriented as being drunk.
